    What the law actually says

    • There is no single national minimum wage in Canada. Each province and territory sets its own hourly minimum under its employment standards legislation, and most adjust it once or twice a year. A separate federal minimum wage applies only to federally regulated workplaces. The minimum is a floor - a collective agreement or your trade's prevailing rate may be higher.
